Seville Food Recommendations

Share some of the food highlights from our trip to Spain. If you have any feedback to share, write it in the comments! My latest Spain recap is here.

Hello friends! Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a good start. We had a great weekend here. We celebrated my Nana’s birthday – I’ll share some photos in Friday Faves – enjoyed the Tucson monsoons (VERY well) and got ready for a little adventure. I post a lot more IG stories if you want to follow there!

For today’s post, I wanted to share some food from Spain! You guys. The food was incredible. Everything was fresh and delicious – even the fried options seemed light and less greasy than their US counterparts – and I’ve already tried to replicate some of our favorite dishes here at home. While we went out to eat A LOT and tried so many incredible places, I’m sharing our top picks from Seville below.

A funny note before we get started: we love to eat. I like it very much. We are all foodies, we all enjoy it and we love to try ALL things. Also, when we travel, we tend to eat one giant meal each day and then nibble and eat smaller bites the rest of the day. (You can see an example when we went to Mykonos here.) At least three times during the trip, the server asked us to stop ordering. “Okay, that’s enough food.” HAHAHA. Let it be known that we ordered a lot – you know, in the name of research – and screwed it up. Maybe tourists are used to ordering a lot of food and wasting it? Well, it wasn’t us.

Seville Food recommendations and recap!

Ofelia Bakery:

We wandered into this charming little bakery because it had great reviews. It also had gluten free options. it was very easy for me to eat gluten free the whole time we were in Seville. (Staying gf has made a huge difference in my autoimmune recovery.) I had a gluten free tostada with avocado, jam, tomato, olive oil, salt and pepper.

It’s worth mentioning here that I hardly ever eat pork here in the states – I cook bacon for the family but I don’t eat it personally – and I’ve not been a fan of pork for most of my life. I had jamón every day we were in Spain and it was delicious.

choke:

Located in the bustling city center, chök offers an excellent selection of handmade chocolates and confections that are made with precision and passion. Guests can enjoy a variety of treats from rich, velvety truffles and creamy bonbons to decadent chocolate bars infused with unique flavors such as sea salt, chili and exotic spices. The chök also serves hot chocolate which is perfect for a warm treat on a cooler day.

We didn’t take advantage of the hot chocolate, but we do have cupcakes and party favors. I wanted to fill my suitcase with chocolates but I had a feeling they would melt on the way back.

Mariatrufunca:

Mariatrifulca is a culinary gem located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River in Seville, offering a dining experience that is as remarkable as its stunning views. This stylish restaurant, with its rooftop terrace, offers a picturesque setting to enjoy fine Andalusian cuisine.

They offer fresh, local seafood and traditional Spanish dishes with a modern twist. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, making it the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a relaxed meal with friends, all while enjoying the beauty of Seville’s skyline and river views.

Everything was 10/10 but the stand out was the tuna ribs and beef tartare.

El Rinconcillo:

El Rinconcillo, the oldest bar in Seville, is a must for those exploring this vibrant city. Established in 1670, this historic gem offers an authentic taste of traditional Andalusian cuisine. Entering El Rinconcillo is like traveling back in time, with its charming rustic decor, wooden beams and walls decorated with vintage bullfighting posters.

The menu is full of classic Spanish tapas such as jamón ibérico, salmorejo and the famous espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas). It’s the perfect place to enjoy a glass of tinto de verano while soaking up the rich history and vibrant atmosphere that make Seville so special.

The standouts of this meal were the beef (if shredded with a savory sauce and carrots) and the espinacas con garbanzos.

Food on the beach!

I have no idea what the name of this place is, but it’s Chiringuito Roche’s restaurant in Cádiz. We rented a car one afternoon and had a day at the beach, and at the restaurant, we ordered a ton of tapas to share. Highlights were the paella, sardines and cold albariño wine.

The gourmet term at El Corte Inglés:

This is a complete experience in itself. AJs and Whole Foods never could. All the olive oil, the caviar, the incredible selection of whiskeys and wines, many restaurants, bonbonières (the best chocolate), breads, seafood… It’s amazing. El Corte Inglés is also a huge department store with everything you could want: entire floors dedicated to designer clothes, cosmetics, shoes, sports, toys, books and music. Just go!

Bar El Comercio:

If you visit Seville, you must get churros! They are completely different than what we have here in the states. They’re light and fluffy, sugar-free, and come with a rich, warm chocolate sauce for dipping.

Bar El Comercio was highly recommended by our friends and everyone loved it. Unfortunately, I did not receive but I did drink some of the chocolate sauce 😉

of Rosalia:

This charming ice cream parlor is renowned for its wide variety of unique and traditional flavors, each made with high-quality, natural ingredients. I can say with confidence that we had Rosalia all 10 days we were in Seville. It’s one of the best ice creams I’ve ever eaten.

Soft drinks:

If you go to Seville, you must visit Bar Garlochi, also known as Church Bar. This bar inside an old church gave me Baz Luhrman vibes in the best possible way. It has slightly creepy, over-the-top Baroque Catholic decor, including gilded angels, statues of Mary, antique chandeliers (and possibly the original velvet curtains) and fake flowers. You just have to see it to experience it.

This post is already long, so I’ll post the Spain Q&A post next Monday! If you have any questions you’d like me to include, let me know in the comments.

Have a great day and I’ll see you soon.

ho ho
