There is a new bra in the city – and this time, it is pierced. No matter how you feel about the Kardashians, Kim K has conquered the art of sacredness and when I saw this bra make the rounds online, I had to try it for myself.
As a former pierced nipple girl – in the summer of 2013, baby – I was excited. When I had the piercings, I liked the appearance of the body jewelry … until the reality came in. It hurts like hell. The healing process took forever. Jewelry caught everything. Eventually, a perforation disappeared in the abyss as a result of a tragic bra accident, and I popped a solo look for a few years before his retirement. It turns out that eternal hard nipples are less fun when they hurt as well. Still, I always had a soft spot for the look.
So when Kim said that it was time to bring back nipple piercings (no needles needed), I wondered: could this bra recreate the look (and dare to say, energy) of a real punch – without pain, time of healing or danger? I arrived to find out.
Skims perforated nipple bra first impressions
I ordered the bra in saint. From the image online, I was expecting a lighter tone of sand, but in person, it is a richer shade that best suits my skin tone. The fabric is extremely soft, with heavy lining and an underwire for a lifting effect. This is not your daily bra. This is a bra. One “my ex can be at this party” bra, if you want. The elevated detail of the nipple looks amazingly real and the piercings – made of a hard plastic that matches the color of the fabric – are realistic enough to fool people.
The application
This bra matches the size-I am 36C-but pack a serious punch. My tits looked at me and felt at least one cup size larger. When I took care of a friend, their first reaction was: “Wait … you look different”. After the great revelation, they were overwhelmed by how authentic it seemed. The bra also has thicker straps, which I appreciate for additional support and comfort.
Plan it
The final pierced bra gives “low effort, high effect”, so I will let it talk. Wear it with a huge or white tank, jeans, a little shoe and maybe a red lip if you feel bold. When the bra is the star, the other elements of the outfit can play backup dancers.
While I was only wearing a white tank and shorts for jeans, I felt … warm. Maybe it was the placebo, but while I was walking in my neighborhood Bodega wearing this bra, I felt that all eyes were on me. With my real piercings, you could only see them if I didn’t wear a bra. Now that I’m in my 30s, my tits aren’t as gloomy as it was, but with this bra, I get this extra Va-va-voom.
Final thoughts
Will I wear this bra again? To be honest, I don’t wear a bra often, but when I do, it is more likely to be a soft, frustrated bralette and not a stuffed push-up. But this bra was … fun. It made me feel sexy, a little naughty and strong. It is not going to become my daily source, but I felt a little more confident when I was wearing it-and maybe this is the point.
One note: Before wearing this, secure the balls at the end of the bars. I didn’t realize that they were removable, I didn’t check and, after a single wear, one of the balls was missing. I have recovered it since then, but I am not sure if the whole bar will fall out if you go without being safe, leaving you, like me back in the day, with a single perforated nipple.
Is Skims Perforated Bran an “unforgettable statement”? I guess it depends on who’s looking. Is it empowerment and hot? Sure. Will I wear it again? Under the right conditions – absolutely.
