Balancing deep conversations with fun

HH: Your podcast has to do with keeping it real. How do you navigate deeply, sometimes unpleasant conversations while keeping things light and fun for your listeners?

Ask Ashley: We are still counting on this balance! Our podcast is really just our weekly check-in, so sometimes we go a little too far and we have to cut things (because it doesn’t need everything to live on the internet forever). But our rule is simple: talk first, edit later. We would prefer to be the most unspecified, authentic ourselves and to deal with the consequences later – because what is life without a little risk?

The funny thing is that the conversations that may feel “uncomfortable” with others not feeling like that when you talk to your best friend. This is your safe space. Our listeners can feel the confidence we have in each other – the way we leave room for honesty, harsh love and, when necessary, some very selective listening. Some days, we give honest tips. Other days, we just bake ourselves. Either way, it’s always real.

Juggling careers, podcasting and friendship

HH: Both of you have incredible careers outside Podcasting -shley North as a celebrity stylist and creative director, and Ashley Weatherspoon as a writer and entrepreneur. How do you weigh them all while you really remain in yourself?

Ask Ashley: The best part of being a real better friend has a built -in advertising campaign woman. We really believe in each other, and that makes all the difference. We don’t just keep each other responsible for our podcast business – we call each other and in our personal career.

If Ashley N wants to put on a new customer, Ashley W is already doing the deck. If Ashley W has a speech concert, Ashley N is the first to hear running (and provides violently honest feedback, of course). When we thrive individually, our collective success is even greater. Well, weighing everything? It is easier with a partner in the crime he gets exactly – we are each other career wing, logic control and occasionally “girl, go get a reminder” reminder.

Beauty, self-care and trust

HH: Beauty and self-care are huge places of trust and authenticity. How has your personal beauty and hair evolved and you have tips on busy women?

Ask Ashley: Ashley W is a huge loyal to do the time for the hairdresser – without excuses. Growing up, her mom took her every two weeks and has maintained the same routine as the adult. For her, it’s more than hair maintenance – it’s a two -week treatment session.

Ashley N, a worker mom, wants to have a secret beauty hack, but is the truth? It is about positioning it when you can. One thing she has conquered is to turn her bathroom into a sanctuary. From acne treatments from pharmacies to the findings of the Tiktok skin, the shelves of the bathroom are stacked. Once the children are sleeping, it illuminates a candle, activates some music and turns its space into a mini spa. Self-care is not always for finding extra time-it is to exploit the small moments you have.

Turning passion into a thriving business

HH: Invested $ 30,000 in your dream and now Ask Ashley It’s a six numbers podcast! What advice do you have for women who want to turn their passion into a business?

Ask Ashley: Everything in life requires investment. Do you want to lose weight? You need to invest time in the kitchen and gym. Do you want to develop a skill? This requires time and money for study materials and resources. Starting a business is no different.

When we started Ask AshleyWe took a harsh look at our finances and asked, Where can we reduce? Instead of Uber eats, at nights out, and buys, we started to redirect money into our dream. We started small recordings in zoom with cheap microphones. However, as we fell in love with the process, we reinforced the studios, the proper registration equipment and the Podcast hospitality.

Our biggest tips? Choose profitability in relation to popularity. Going to the virus is cute, but real money from your passion is even better.

Keeping friendship in all zones

HH: Friendship is an important issue of your podcast. What is the greatest lesson you have learned to stay near while living on opposite shores?

Ask Ashley: The hardest lesson? You will lose things. Ashley W will not be there for every birthday party, school thinking or Ashley N’s Daughters. Ashley N will not be there when Ashley W gets a pregnancy test or comes home from a bad date. And honestly? This is a mess.

What saves us? Facetime. It is our salvation. We don’t only use it for quick check-in-we constantly use it. Whether it is the folding washing machine, watching the TV “Together” from separate sofas, or discussing an equipment selection before you start, Facetime makes the little moments count. And our work also keeps us connected. One of us is on the opposite coast at least once or twice in the fourth, so even when we do not plan to see each other, the universe (and our jobs) make sure it happens.
