Because I Wear Wired Headphones

Hello friends! I hope you have a wonderful week. I’m headed to Orlando for back-to-back adventures and I’ll be sure to report back! Check out mine IG stories for all the fun.

For today’s post, I wanted to talk a little about headphones.

Here I am with my wired headphones, years after bluetooth options arrived on the scene.

In college, I had a bluetooth headset (along with everyone else who thought it was cool lol) and used it all the time. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was bad for my brain and decided to finally stop using it. I’ve always been wary of phones and bluetooth near my head, but for convenience I used Bose sports headphones for years. (I loved that stuff!!) Over time, I learned more about EMFs and decided to switch to wired headphones a few years ago.

The Wired vs. Wireless Debate

Wireless headphones like Air Pods have become extremely popular, but wired headphones still have a strong following. I feel like as people have become more health conscious they’ve gone back to wired headphones. Maybe they’re going back to wired headphones after going wireless, maybe they’re glad it’s old school, or maybe they’re sticking with wired for any of the following reasons.

Better sound quality

Wireless headphones tend to produce a more consistent sound, without interface or drops.

It also seems that many musicians, sound engineers and those who value sound quality tend to prefer wired headphones.

No charging required

One of the nicest things about wired headphones is the battery-free convenience. You never have to worry about charging them.

They’re also ideal for long-term use, as you don’t need to take breaks to recharge.

These are also a lower stress option because you don’t have to worry about the headphones dying during use, especially during workouts, calls or long trips.

More reliable connection

Wired headphones are also more reliable as you don’t have to worry about signal drop or interference that can occur with Bluetooth. They connect instantly with no pairing or connection issues. just plug them in and you’re good to go.

They are also compatible with many devices and you don’t have to worry about connectivity issues.

Health and EMF concerns

Wireless headphones emit electromagnetic fields (EMF), which some people prefer to avoid. The more I learn about EMFs, the more I prefer to minimize exposure as much as possible. I tend to be more sensitive to these things, and it was even worse when I was deep in my healing journey.

Wired headphones eliminate close proximity to Bluetooth signals, which is another peace of mind for EMF exposure. This is an interesting article.

With long-term use, it is less of a concern for those seeking to limit radiation exposure. (And if you’re one of those people who says “They’re not that bad. They’re within safe limits”, live your life. I try to limit my own explosion and exposure for the kids. )

Durability and longevity

Battery-powered headphones degrade over time and also less wear-resistant. They also seem to have fewer technical problems. Wired headphones are cheaper to replace if something goes wrong.

Economic

Wired headphones are more affordable than wireless headphones and you don’t have to upgrade them all the time. Once you embrace the fact that you’re going old school, there’s zero pressure to constantly upgrade your headphones. You also don’t pay for extra features you don’t need, such as Bluetooth or wireless charging.

Why I chose wired headphones

For myself, I’m glad I’m back to wired headphones and don’t have to worry about EMF exposure. I use Apple’s classic wired headphones with my phone and love it Bose wired headphones for my computer.

I haven’t gotten up to the gym in a while, so I usually take a class (with music playing on the speakers) or work out at home on my speakers. For walks with Maisey, I put my phone in this EMF blocking fanny pack (one of my favorite things!). It’s also been useful for traveling because I don’t have to worry about my headphones dying, and I also don’t have to worry about my Bluetooth not connecting while I’m doing Broadway shows on the plane lol.

Wired headphones aren’t going anywhere

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this. Do you use wired headphones, wireless or no headphones??
