Beetroot For Glowing Skin And Hair: 3 Top Benefits And

How many layers of product do you need to make your skin glow?

I don’t do makeup.

But, sometimes, I like to watch makeup videos. It is shocking to watch makeup lovers use 20 to 30 different types of creams and colors to paint their face. And after finishing they transform into flawless beauty, sometimes unrecognizable.

Makeup is definitely a work of art and properly applied can be beautiful.

But I prefer a minimalist approach to preparation: I put on face oil, moisturizer and a bit of lip balm and I look decent.

I like to keep my energy up by cooking and eating healthy food.

And eating healthy has its perks. It will make your skin healthy and glowing from within, so you don’t need to put on tons of products to bring out its beauty.

In general, you need to eat a wide variety of foods to stay healthy. However, certain foods give our skin and hair an extra boost. And one of them is the beetroot.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’d know my love for beets. I keep talking about it every now and then. And for good reason, beets are amazing foods for your health, hair and skin.

Want to know more about the benefits of beetroot for hair and skin? Let’s find out…

3 amazing benefits of beets for your skin and hair

Beets for health

1. Beets have tons of Betalains

Beetroot’s vibrant red color is due to plant pigments called betalains. And these red pigments have powerful antioxidant properties.

One of the causes of hair loss and graying is oxidative stress.

Thus, eating foods with higher antioxidant capacity can help reduce hair loss and promote healthier growth. Also, with age, your skin shows signs of aging such as dark spots, tags and wrinkles. And to combat this, antioxidant-rich foods are your best friends as they work from the inside out to heal and repair tissues.

2. Beets can promote liver health

So what does this have to do with your hair?

This is because the liver is responsible for hundreds of functions in our body.

Liver helps me the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E – which are important for the hair growth cycle.

The liver too removes toxins and harmful substances from the blood. It also helps break down excess hormones, alcohol and drugs. And that’s why when your liver is struggling, it can have an impact on other parts of your body, including hair. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, a healthy liver will promote healthy hair growth and glowing skin.

Animal studies have shown that compounds in beets, especially betalains, have a protective effect on the liver. They support the liver by getting rid of harmful free radicals and reducing inflammation.

3. The nutrients in beets can strengthen your skin and hair

Beets are a rich source of silicon. The metal is needed to keep your bones and teeth healthy.

Silicon too helps to improve elasticity and hydration of the skin, making it firm and youthful. Silicon does this by boosting collagen production.

And for your hair, silica makes it strong and elastic so there’s less breakage.

Apparently, it is suggested that hair with a higher silicon content tends to have lower shedding rates and more shine and luster.

In addition, beets also contain many other essential nutrients such as folate, iron, vitamin C, manganese and potassium.

Now that you know the many benefits of beets, let’s learn how to make a delicious fried beetroot.

How to make stir fry beets

There are several ways to eat beets. Some people like to eat it boiled, some people like to eat it raw, and I like to make a stir-fry with it. It is simple to make and tastes good. Here’s how to do it

To make this stir fry, you will need:

I make, I do:

1. Heat the oil in a pan (heat to medium).

2. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chili (I break it into 2 or 3 pieces to bring out more flavor) and let them fry for 15 to 30 seconds.

3. Add the sesame seeds and stir for a few seconds.

4. Now add the peeled and grated beets and salt; mix well.

5. Lower the heat and cook covered for about 5 to 7 minutes (stir twice in between)

Serve hot or cold as an appetizer or as a great little extra with your mains. You can also use it in wraps and sandwiches.
