A: Founded by late grandfather, Fred Luster Sr, who was a barber and barber shop owner on the South Side of Chicago. His customers often complained of dry scalps and itchy hair, so he took it upon himself to create a product that catered to their hair and scalp needs.

Q: What is your role in your family business?

We have family members in management throughout the company, so I work closely with them, including but not limited to production and operations. My father, Jory Luster Sr, is not stuck on titles within our organization, he believes that everyone has to be involved to get the job done. So when something needs to be done, I’ll jump in to make sure the bottom line is met.

A: My grandfather knew that Luster Products Inc was more than just a hair care company. He knows that providing jobs to people in our community has allowed them to become homeowners, send their children to college, and own cars. We believe in his vision.
