Chanel Holiday 2023 Collection

The Holiday Collection 2023 from Chanel it arrived and it is absolutely amazing. I look forward to Chanel’s holiday launch every year as they always go the extra mile to create something special and unique. The collection highlights a smokey eye with lots of bold red lips. They have a stunning compact highlighter, three new nail colors and some neutral lip options too. Here’s a look at what I tried from this year’s holiday launch.

Duo Lumiere Illuminating Powder Duo

Chanel highlighters never fail to impress, especially with their lovely embossed patterns. This year it launched one Duo Lumiere Illuminating Powder Duo ($70). It’s a sparkling champagne pink and crystal white. The shimmer and shine is a bit bulkier than what we’re used to seeing from Chanel, but it’s beautiful and the sparkles look like what I think fairy dust would look like if it existed.

Colors look similar to Tom Ford’s Moodlight but its texture and colors Chanel Duo they’re more modern and have more dimension, while Tom Ford offers more of an icy glow in comparison.

Because it’s on the shimmery side, there will be brush strokes when you apply it, but once on the cheeks it stays put with pretty good pigment and coverage.

For the eyes, Chanel launched one Eyeshadow palette with 5 pans and I’m a big fan of this style. I wish Chanel would launch more palettes like this! Lumiere Graphique Eyeshadow Palette ($88) has a beautiful sequin print on the surface. All the shades are shimmery and one is a shimmery glitter top coat shade. The texture is smooth and the pigment is easy to build and layer.

The overall tone pulls more towards the smoky side. There is a peach shade that I suspect will show more peach/gold on fairer skin tones. In my medium tank (Chanel B40) it pulls more champagne. The shimmers are on the shimmery side, so there’s a lot of powder that pops up with an eyeshadow brush. However, I didn’t feel any fallout on the cheeks during application, except for a small patch with the shimmery white top.

The shades are amazing for a holiday smokey eye. I love the combination of grey, peach and olive gold to make it different from your typical grey/black/silver smokey eye palette. It actually pulls cooler than what I’m used to wearing these days, but I think it’s pretty.

Holiday Le Vernis

There are three Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colors ($32 each) this season. They fit the holiday smokey glam theme. 167 White silk it’s a sheer creamy white (requires 3 coats for full coverage, but worth the extra effort and drying time). 169 Tuxedos it’s a beautiful shimmery brassy gold. It’s very metallic and I love that the strokes don’t show, it goes on very smoothly with 2 coats. 171 sequins it’s a soft black with super fine silvery white shimmers floating throughout. This also comes with 2 coats.

Holiday lips

Chanel Rouge Allure L'Extrait Holiday 2023

It seems Chanel Beauty had a holiday party theme in mind when creating her lip colors this season. They re-promoted some shades of it Rouge Allure L’Extrait which I believe is one of the best formulas out there. They are thin and small, but the formula is creamy, smooth, hydrating and pigmented. 812 Beige Brut it’s my perfect everyday beige neutral (reposted), 854 Rouge Puissant is an electric bright red (also re-promoted), 857 Midnight Red it’s new with a metallic finish but it’s a flattering deeper red metallic.

They have two new ones Rouge Allure Laque shades this season. I have one inside 90 Gold Beige ($45) which is a very metallic gold shimmer. For me this is best as a topper to a neutral lipstick. On its own it pulls a little too cold. I think the color tone is beautiful – I would love to see it in a shimmer, eyeshadow, highlighter or blush.

Chanel Beauty Holiday 2023

That concludes mine Chanel Holiday 2023 review. I think everything is beautiful. My highlight is the Duo Lumiere Illuminating Powder Duo. I already own Rouge Allure L’Extrait in 812 Beige Brut and love it so much that I’m already on my second tube (they are refillable). I rarely wear red lips, but I think Midnight Red is beautiful.

For nail colors I think White Silk is a really flattering off-white shade. It needs a little more work with the layering, but I think the undertone is perfect. It is creamy but not yellow. The tuxedo is beautiful. I think Sequins is a shade we’ve definitely seen before in a lot of lines, but I really like that the shimmer is visible on the nails in a subtle way that makes it shine.

You can find everything available now at Chanel.com and all other Chanel retailers. Have you checked out the holiday launch yet? What did you think?
