Long time no see! What a month it’s been! I wanted to write a little update on life here to check in and say hello, but things have been chaotic these past few weeks. As most of you know, I am in St. Pete (Tampa Bay area) and we just went through two back to back hurricanes. I have been more active on social to share life updates but haven’t had a chance to share much here on the blog. If you want to see what I’ve been up to, it’s all saved on my Instagram @beautylookbook October Life and NYC Highlights!
I’m back with a quick Chanel Beauty review! They started their own Holiday 2024 collection and Part 1 their Holiday gift set. There are 6 sets online now of the beautiful soft zipper bags and this year they have 2 bag sizes, the standard we’ve seen for years and then a larger one (so fun!).
I got a set Maximum Brilliance Lipgloss Trio ($128) as the others I have my eye on won’t be released until November 4th (I’ll pick them up on release day).
This year the boxes are gold and white and the bags have the cutest snowflake zipper detail. I’m not sure about the packaging for online orders but if you buy in store they also have two options for gift wrapping charms, I chose the snowflake which is very cute.
These gift sets have full size items and usually there is no price difference for buying the set, but they are beautifully packaged and while you can buy the items individually, I really like that you know you are getting full size high quality items.
Maximum Shine has three Rouge Coco Glosses in Icing (sheer milky white pink), Bourgeioise (classic mauve with shimmer) and Melted Honey (sheer gold shimmer). All three are super glossy with a thicker texture. They moisturize and have a beautiful glow.
Below, also wearing:
Icing Rouge Coco Gloss
Melted Honey Rouge Coco Gloss
Bourgeoisie Rouge Coco Gloss
Here’s a quick look at what’s online now, there are lots of other fragrance sets and packs, but these are the sets that come with the pretty gift bags:
Two other sets that I know are coming out include one with the UV essential and another that comes with the baume essential in the set. If you have your eye on one, I suggest ordering soon or calling your local boutique as they tend to sell out very quickly!

Life Update: A lot has happened in the last month! We had two hurricanes in a row. I also took a weekend trip to New York right before Hurricane Milton and got back just in time to help prepare our house for the hurricane and pack as much as we could to evacuate. In the eight years we’ve lived in Florida, this is the first time we’ve had mandatory evacuation orders for our neighborhood. Andrew booked us with Airbnb for Miami for a couple of weeks, knowing that even if the hurricane didn’t end up hitting Tampa directly, the size and strength would be devastating enough to mean the power would likely be out for a few weeks. if not a whole month. Since the ground is so saturated from storms, many of the counties will likely have water shut off for a few days.
We packed everything we could into our car along with the fur babies and drove to Miami Beach. With all the traffic, it took us 8 hours to drive from Tampa to South Beach (normally it takes us 4 at most). We made the most of our two week getaway, did a lot of exploring, ate our hearts out at all our favorite places, tried new places and also celebrated 23 years together (dated 7 years and married 16). We checked the news daily for updates about our neighborhood and home. Our neighbors had also evacuated so they weren’t even home to report our house. With the power out we couldn’t check our house cameras to see if our house survived.
We drove home as soon as we got the notification that the power and water were back on. So thankful that our house is 100% ok inside and that we have had no flooding or damage to the actual house. So many trees had broken branches or were completely blown off their roots. Many houses had exterior and interior damage – we were very lucky! Our back yard and fence needs a lot of work and repair, but any damage is minimal and everything is fixed.
I hope to resume regular posting this week! I had a lot in the works for reviews and samples. Also, prepare some Sephora sale guides and holiday gift guides. I’ve been working behind the scenes while I’m gone! I just haven’t had a chance to process and get everything together to share with you.
I hope you are all well and had a great October. Ours was definitely chaotic but we survived and I’m glad to be back!
