Copenhagen Fashion Week Trends To Wear Now Through Spring

This week, the Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 shows marked the countdown to Fashion Month, which starts in September in New York and ends in October in Paris. Featuring some of Denmark’s biggest fashion names – including OpéraSport, Baum und Pferdgarten, Remain and Saks Potts – this season’s runways showcased the fashion trends we’ll see next year.

In an update on the core business trend, brands spoke of pure customization. Meanwhile, others brought back nostalgic items like cropped cardigans and oversized rugby shirts. Scandi style influences such as clashing prints, ultra-feminine details and minimalist styling have breathed life into both new and old trends.

While these pieces won’t hit stores until the new year, many of these styles can be worn now, from flowy, loose dresses to sport shirts that will keep your Olympics obsession going well into spring. Ahead, the seven biggest trends from the runways of Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Cardigans

Designers are bringing cardigans back in a big way for spring/summer 2025. The transitional layer—which looks nothing like your grandma’s cardi—dominated runways like A. Roege Hove, where models walked in black, white, gray and Brat Green knits worn solo or layered, buttoned up or barely at all. OpéraSport added a touch of coquetry in cardigans with elegant trims and cropped hems, while Aiayu opted for a minimal, relaxed fit.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Kaftan Style Dresses

Plenty of effortless, loose-fitting clothes were sent down the Copenhagen runways for spring/summer — and we’d expect nothing less from the Scandi crowd. Contemporary brand Munthe presented Prairie maxi dresses, embroidered kaftans and tie-front denim shirts, all accessorized with slide sandals or ballet flats. Other kaftan-style dresses included Lovechild 1979’s black sheer maxis with puffed sleeves and Skall Studio’s light-colored shift dresses, perfect for late summer lounging or vacations abroad.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Sheer Suits

If you’re a fan of suits as casual wear, designers are taking tailoring to a new party-friendly level. See-through suit arrived in Copenhagen this season, which looks like a perfect cocktail of the business trend of aesthetics and nude dress. Our favorite looks include the collarless sheer lined jacket and trousers paired with ballet flats. and The Garment’s powder blue sheer suit (within a tailoring-centric collection) dressed up with pumps and a clutch bag. Other brands combined transparent elements with suits, such as Gestuz’s transparent button-downs and Bonnetje’s capri pants.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Rugby Shirts

Show off your stripes in a designer-approved rugby shirt this season. The retro, sporty top was all over the runways in Copenhagen, including lots of brightly colored striped polos at Baum und Pferdgarten’s ‘Office Olympics’ themed show and Marimekko’s polo dresses in basic hues. For those who prefer a fresher take on the college staple, Stamm’s ‘Be Good’ long-sleeve shirts provided the slogan tee trend a stamp of approval for 2025. The fashion forward among us will appreciate Henrik Vibskov’s colorful multi-striped rugby shirts and Stem’s neutral tees with fringe details.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Bubble Tops

For Spring/Summer 2025, the Y2K inspired skirt skirt trend it slips into t-shirts and adds a romantic, feminine feel to even the simplest of styles. Perfectly exemplified by Herskind’s tailored, draped tops (with matching wide leg pants), this three-dimensional style can be both sophisticated and fun. One of CPHFW’s most exciting newcomers, Nicklas Skovgaard, proved this in casual, cropped hem tops with matching underwear and knee-high socks.

Trend for Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025: Textured Bottoms

One way to elevate an outfit is to apply texture, and designers such as Joao Maraschin, (Di)vision and Baum und Pferdgarten presented a range of down, fur and appliqué bottoms for spring/summer 2025. Although this may sound bold in theory (who am I, Big Bird?), it’s much easier to style in real life — just keep everything else minimal. Check out Baum und Pferdgarten’s polo shirts paired with appliqué skirts, for example, or go double with Joao Maraschin’s rope vest paired with embossed bottoms.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2025 Trend: Ruffles

Designers embraced ruffle detailing on the spring/summer runways in a nod to this season’s ultra-feminine trend. From OpéraSport blouses and bags to Alectra Rothschild skirts, ruffles graced many looks. If a ruffled outfit with gray midi dresses and matching ensembles à la Lovechild 1979 isn’t for you, consider pieces that use the decorative element as an accent.
