I was so excited to try the brand new elf Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation and I’m excited to say that I have every shade here to show you. So enjoy my review and swatches.

There are 36 shades to choose from in the full collection. Shades range from Fair to Rich and include cool, neutral and warm tones.

My review of elf Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation

elf Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation and elf Ultimate Blending Brush

I knew I would love this foundation because I’ve always been impressed with elf’s complexion products. In short, what I really like is that it has a lovely lightweight texture with a skincare feel, but with natural looking coverage.

Also, the finish is very nice. As promised, it’s a satin finish with the perfect amount of sheen without being overly shiny or glossy. It’s great in texture and feels like real leather. I really liked how comfortable this is and once I put it on I forget I’m wearing it which is great.

How are the shades?

There are 36 shades to choose from and what’s great is that elf has a shade match guarantee so if you have any issues you can return it. This is such a good choice for a drugstore brand, especially as the shades range from Fair to Deep and Rich, to Cool, Neutral and Warm tones.

I’m often a shade neutral when it comes to foundation, however, having played around with a few different options from the elf Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation collection, I actually went for a Cool shade and it works really well on my skin tone.

What skin type is it good for?

So elf Cosmetics Soft Glam Satin Foundation claims to be suitable for dry, oily and combination skin. I’d say you’ll especially love it if you’re on the drier side, and I think it’s great for mature skin. That said, it’s not overly shiny, so I think oily skin will do well with it.

Do you need to dust it?

I have found that I can skip the powder which is always my preference these days. If you’re dry, I don’t think you’ll need to use powder. You may want to powder the t-zone if you’re more on the oily side.

Is it easy to apply?

This applies and blends very easily. A little dot of product goes a long way and it blends very nicely into the skin. I like to use it with the elf Ultimate Blending Brush. It has a nice big head so it makes for quick application and smoothing of this foundation into the skin.

It applies very smoothly and looks immediately natural.

How is the coverage?

I would say this is a good medium coverage that is easy to build. One layer really evens out my skin tone, covers redness and pigmentation and makes my skin look really perfect. You can easily create it in any domain you need it.

How is the finish?

I love the finish of this foundation. It’s definitely satin as described, and I think it’s not too shiny and not too matte. You could call it a little gold foundation!

It has a wonderful natural glow that gives the skin a really healthy look. It allows the light to catch the cheekbones and high points of the face beautifully. If you’re oily, you might want to lightly dust the t-zone, but see how you do.

I decided on shade 20 Light Cool and I think it’s my best match.
