Father’s Day is just around the corner (Sunday June 18, so you don’t have to go to Google!) and this year boots are celebrating all different types of dads and father figures with Love to all dads campaign.
They have a huge variety of Father’s Day Gifts It’s available online at boots.com and to show you some of the great range (and give you a little gift inspo) I thought I’d pick out gifts for some of the most famous fathers the world has ever known:
Father Time, The Godfather and… Father Christmas.
Don’t say I never give you anything. Here it goes.
Father time
I will admit that I knew very little about Father Time. I had to do an in-depth research on him before deciding on a suitable gift. I read that he was often portrayed as an old bearded man, so it created a bit of a dilemma: who would appreciate a beard trimmer more? Christmas or time? Then I found out that Father Time sometimes had wings and thought maybe something to smooth his wings might be a good shout. he also carries a scythe – a bit anti-social – so I wondered if some colorful hair dye, perhaps pink, might make him seem less menacing and a little more approachable.
But no. I didn’t want to get too carried away with his Father’s Day gift and pick something that he would then have to return. Even if he has all the time in the world, he doesn’t want to waste it going back and forth to the post office with all the junk I’ve given him. The packets of pink hair dye or – and this was my other idea – the crossbody bag in which he could safely carry the hourglass and the watch that must go with him – should be relegated to the discard pile.
In the end I chose something I knew she would appreciate – anyone alive for more than twenty years would welcome it on their bathroom shelf and it stayed alive forever. Of No7 Men Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum, designed to target deep lines and wrinkles. No7 serums are known for providing anti-aging results and this one is no different. Gliding on quickly and easily under any moisturizer or sunscreen, it’s the ultimate no-fuss, big-hitting addition to any skincare routine. If you can get him to have one… it’s £24.95 at Boots.
The Godfather
Did you know that boots have a whole selection of activities and experiences to buy as gifts? Everything from supercar driving to flying lessons, helicopter rides to clay pigeon shooting. No one in their right mind would trust Don Corleone with a real gun, so Clay Pigeon shooting was out, but I thought maybe Paintball would be a suitable (and safe) alternative. The Godfather and three of his friends can pick a convenient paintball location and then shoot each other, knowing they’re not going to start a mob war in New York.
I think there’s a gift experience for almost every type of dad, on the Boots website. It is an absolute superstore of activities. So you could be nice and get the recipient something they’ll actually enjoy (a relaxing afternoon tea, perhaps, if that’s their jam), or you could really screw them up and buy them an experience that’s just right to the most extreme adrenaline rush. The choice is yours.
Paintball for four is £20 at Boots.com
Santa Claus
I don’t think anyone would buy a beard trimmer before Father Christmas. It’s a bit presumptuous, isn’t it? We all know he likes to keep it long and fluffy during the holiday season. But – aha! What about intermediate times? Do you really think he wants to overcome this monstrosity 365 days a year?
Step forward it Philips Series 9000 Prestige Beard Trimmer with Steel Precision technology and BeardAdapt sensor. Now look: this is no ordinary beard trimmer. It’s like the Rolls Royce of beard trimmers. Sleek, steel-bodied, expensively heavy in the hand. Just pulling it out of its carrying case is a sensual experience, really enjoyable, even for me and I don’t have a beard. Very.
This is what Santa needs from December 26th until Autumn. To cut it all off. He will find that his beard, next Christmas, will be much more shapely and fluffy thanks to his annual trim.
But this isn’t a trimmer just for Father Christmas: mere mortals can also show off the stylish prowess of the 9000 Prestige. It’s £109.99 at Boots – one for all the boys who were really, really good.
(And if you’re looking for something other than a razor, this Gifts for Him The page has everything in one place, from skin care to aftershave and more.)
So these are the three most famous dads who cared. But what about all the other dads? Where to start from?
Honestly, I’m exhausted with all this thinking, but I’ll give you a bonus recommendation for all the stylish dads out there: Gucci Guilty Pour Homme. Specifically the Eau de Parfum.
The fragrance is so elegant and sexy. The bottle is a bit gaudy – it has a definite ‘if Batman wore perfume’ vibe – and the scent itself is warm, woody and manageably exotic. It’s more of a crowd pleaser, but in a very sophisticated way – and who doesn’t want something a little luxurious and elegant from the House of Gucci? Dad, Dad Cool.
Gucci Guilty Pour Homme Parfum it’s £83.30 at Boots.

Prices are correct at time of writing and while stocks last.
Right, I’ll stop there. There is a real risk that some of my gift ideas will backfire. I want to state it now: I cannot be held completely responsible if Santa shows up shaved for Christmas 2023…
