Pants — not exactly dripping with cool, are they? Wrong. Leave it to reader and editor favorite destination Anthropologie to come up with a stunning pant and skirt style—her name is Colette, thank you very much — with sleek, stylish silhouettes tied together through a series of effortless elements. While you can find Colette in many iterations, what connects the pieces are masterful details like the high waist, mid-length and kicks that have a seemingly universally flattering effect. It’s also versatile enough to look good with plush velvet, warm corduroy, buttery faux leather, and even covered in dazzling sequins. Which, surprise surprise, makes the style a wild hit for holiday dressing—and our editors agree.
According to the brand, Colette is the number one best selling pants in the Anthropologie story, garnering plenty of buzz on FYP TikToks everywhere. It’s also branched out into midi and mini skirts and jumpsuits. There’s one for every mood and fit and, thanks to an extensive range of plus, petite and standard sizes, everyone is welcome at Colette’s soiree. (Prices range from $120 for the signature cropped wide leg pants to $198 for the sequined version.)

The Colette metallic maxi skirt$138

“Thanks to Beyoncé Renaissance Browse — and more recently the Renaissance film — silver metallics are having a moment in fashion. I’m not immune to the look, which is perfect for holiday wear. For a holiday party, I styled this true-to-size leather maxi skirt over a small, solid color with shiny knee-high boots, a crystal belt, and a gray sweater. As a minimalist, I’m not big on sequins, so I love how the shiny silver color creates a frosty, festive look without saying too much. For a softer look after midnight on December 31st, I’d wear this skirt with a tee and a black blazer or leather jacket.” — Irina Grechko, Fashion Director
The Colette Cropped Pants with wide sequins$198

“When I saw these sequin pants, I knew they were going to be my go-to holiday look. I ordered a 28, my typical pant size, and it fits like a dream. While many sequin appliqués can be either itchy or tangled, these pants have a super soft mesh lining so they’ll drape perfectly and not catch a thing all night long. I paired them with my favorite turtleneck for a chic, festive look. I loved how cut they were on me (I’m 5’8″ so on the taller side), but it took me a minute to figure out what shoe to pair with (I originally planned for loafers, but the bare skin gap was too too much for the winter cold).I ended up pairing them with tall boots, which made it look slightly dressier than the vibe I originally wanted, but heck, if you’re going to wear sequins, why not lean in, right? My favorite part of these pants, though, was the way they sparkled as they moved, I wish I could show you a video of them in motion because really, they were a sparkly dream and would make an amazing statement at any holiday party, dinner, or gathering. I certainly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone who doesn’t like the look of them, as they’ve received lots of compliments and a few shout-outs from strangers on the streets. That said, they’re 10/10 for anyone who loves to shine.” — Charlotte Lewis, sexual health and wellness writer
The Colette Cropped Wide-Leg Velvet Pants$148

“I was immediately drawn to these velvet pants and knew I had to get my hands on them. And when I did, I fell in love with how soft they were. I chose black for their versatility and got a size 30 petite, which was perfect for me. (While the petite sizes are almost sold out, I probably could have pulled off a regular pair on my 5’2″ frame since it’s a cropped style.) I wore my Colette velvet pants on Thanksgiving and decided to go all in with texture , pairing them with a sparkly striped sweater and striped sock-like boots. I felt super comfortable in them all day long, even when I ate myself into a food coma, thanks to the soft and stretchy fabric. And I can’t wait to wear them for even more holiday parties and winter gatherings.” — Victoria Montalti, Associate Affiliate Writer
The Colette Cropped wide leg pant in synthetic leather$148

“Try as I might, I’m not a leather jacket girl. Anyway, give me a pair of leather pants and I’ll wear them all winter. Since I only have caramel and various black leather pants, after looking at this chocolate Colette Wide-Legged pair, I wanted to grab it and start sketching out all the styling possibilities. I convinced my friend to buy her own pair and suggested she rock her annual ugly Christmas sweater with the chocolate bottom and she looked absolutely fantastic. Who knew you could make a holiday bell knit sweater so chic?
I can’t wait to style mine with everything from soft fur jackets and turtlenecks with sweater vests for casual holiday brunches with the family. Since leather pants can get a bit tight if overheated, I sized up and went for a petite size 26. Surprisingly, it was light, unlike my other pants, with the leather being moderately thin but still warm. After trying them on, I was so happy that they had enough stretch so sitting and moving around was comfortable. I’m 5’5″ and have a bigger torso than legs and these wide leg pants hit my ankles perfectly.” – Vivien Lee, Affiliate Fashion Writer
The Colette Cropped Pants with wide sequins$198

“Hello sequins! These pants are a true statement piece if ever there was one. I’ve had a love-hate relationship with pants since I’ve had a hard time shopping for ones that don’t need to be hemmed or otherwise tailored. I’m a petite 5’2 and poorly designed pants have the unfortunate ability to make me look even shorter. These Maeve sequin pants are sheer magic — and that’s even without their sparkle factor. The sequined fabric can sometimes feel like you’re wearing a heavy piece of chain, but it was surprisingly light and comfortable. I love how they hug my body. I wear a 24 petite, so even though the style is already cut, having a petite option ensures that it will *really* be cut on me too. (Usually, ankle length on everyone else is full length for me.) I can’t wait to wear it to a holiday party with a chic turtleneck or bodysuit.” — Karina Hoshikawa, senior writer
The Colette Cropped Corduroy Wide Pants$138

“This is my first corduroy and boy, I really regret not getting on board sooner. Other corduroy items have previously made me feel a bit worn and shabby, but these trousers did the complete opposite. I loved the cinnamon brown, which reminded me of the best things about fall and the holiday season. The material had a fine, crushed velvet sheen that looked so shiny and expensive. I tried them on at home and they were so comfortable that I continued to lounge in them for the rest of the day. I went with my usual waist measurement size and they fit perfectly, and even though it’s a petite girl’s, the Standard length (26 inches inseam) gave the perfect amount of drape without hitting the ground since the style is already cropped. The two large square front pockets were also really flattering. I wore the pants to a Thanksgiving dinner, paired with a retro-inspired plaid blazer to give off a ’70s glam rock vibe — and felt like the best-dressed guest in the room. – Venus Wong, Senior Travel Writer
The Colette faux leather skirt$130

“Faux leather is out of my comfort zone… it’s one of those fabrics that is best tried on in the store and I didn’t try it on personally so I missed the mark on the sizing of this skirt. Normally I am a size large or 29-30 in the bottom, although the large was too big for me in the waist but I stand at 5’4”, the length was great. I think this skirt would be great with a tighter fit — so be sure to size down! Besides the size, the style of the skirt is quite cute, especially paired with a cropped sweater and some boots for a holiday party at the office or some eggnog at a bar. I love the different fabric textures between leather and knit sweaters (or cashmere for posh ladies).” — Becca Sax, Affiliate Coordinator
