If you’ve scrolled through Instagram, YouTube, or Tik Tok, you’ve probably seen many different trainers and fitness coaches, but how do you know if a trainer is legit?
Over the years I have watched hundreds of people start selling training and nutrition programs online with zero certifications, zero experience training real clients and no supervision.
It’s not just misleading, it’s dangerous.
Helping guide someone’s training and nutrition is a HUGE responsibility and I don’t take it lightly.
So whether you train with me on MOVE or choose another program, here’s why you should make sure it’s with a Certified Personal Trainer.
Why train with a certified Personal Trainer?
An instructor certified through a nationally accredited program such as NASM must take intensive courses and tests to train in:
- Basic science exercises
- Science of human movement
- Fitness assessments
- Program design and the Optimal Performance Training (OPT) model.
- Speed, agility and speed training
- Best nutrition practices
- Customer interaction and professional development
Like many professions, we also need to complete a certain amount of continuing education to ensure we stay up to date with the latest techniques, research and training methods.
I have personally completed over 20 different training specialties including prenatal and postnatal training, agility, yoga and recently received a new certification as a behavioral Change Specialist from NASM.
Not ALL certifications are created equal.
Whether you’re looking for an instructor or to get certified yourself, make sure you find a program that’s nationally accredited.
This is really the only way to make sure it is 100% legal and meets the highest training standards.
THE National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) it is one of the most trusted and reliable companies and where I get my certifications.
If you want to expand your knowledge or even become a trainer yourself, definitely check it out.
