How to use credit card points for travel

Share my tips on how to use credit card points for travel. Check all the details here!

There are some things in my life that I am sorry. This time I moved to Tucson and made a crisis and got strokes. Looking at the MBA program when I finished more than half the road. AAAAnd does not sign for reward credit cards earlier.

We often heard our friends talk about credit card points, but because we had debt in the past, it was something we avoided. We continued to hear about free flights and access to the living room, so about 10 years ago, we decided to do so. It was a total gameChanger. Since then, we have traveled for free many times, enjoyed hotel upgrades, access to the living room and have been rewarded for daily costs through points.

How to use Credit Card Points for Travel: Maximation of Rewards for Flights, Hotels and Salon Access

In this post, I will share some tips on how to maximize your credit card rewards and share my experience with American Express Platinum cardincluding its advantages and disadvantages. I will also share my favorite tips to get the best airline ticket offers!

Ways to use credit card points for travel

1. Free Hotel Upgrades and Upgrades

Many travel credit cards allow you to redeem points for free hotel nights in large chains such as Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt. Some cards also offer automatic elite status, which can lead to room upgrades, delayed fund and free breakfast. When I book through the Amex Travel Gate, we can see which rewards we will receive, be it delayed checkout, early check-in, resort credit or room upgrade when available. You also get a $ 200 credit for the Fine Hotels & Resorts collection.

(Free room service in the upgraded Venetian suite in Vegas. Our flight was also free)

End: Search for carrying partners where your points are further stretched. For example, American Express Membership Rewards Points Transfer in 1: 1 to Hilton Honors ratio, but often have offers that offer extra value. Sometimes you can get 2 for 1 points, so it’s worth it !! You can do this directly through the American Express website.

2. Flight reservations and airline offers

One of the best ways to use credit card points is to book flights. You can redeem the points directly through your card travel portal or transfer them to airline partners for even better value.

Best ways to find airline tickets:

Use Google Explore: If you are flexible at the destination, Google Flights Explore can show you the cheapest places to fly from your home airport. Do not be afraid to control every day, move around and play with flexible dates and locations.

Be flexible on dates and location: Even shifting your departure by one day can make a big difference.

Set the price notifications: Websites like Google Flights and Skyscanner allow you to track prices and alert when the fares fall.

Transfer points to a bonus: Some credit cards offer carry bonuses when you transfer points to airline programs, giving you extra value. *Look and see which airline is operating your desired flight. For example, I was booking a flight through the Delta the next day operating by Air France. Find the same flight to their website and transfer your points to their reward program to get an even better deal.

3.

Great layovers? Flight delays? Airport lounges can make your experience much better. The American Express Platinum Card provides a free priority card, Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Club Access (when Delta flies). This means free food, drinks, comfortable seats, and sometimes even shower and spa services. Girls love the living room life and are quite common in it lol.

End: Check out which lounges are available at your airport in advance using the Priority Pass app or AMEX Travel.

The advantages and disadvantages of the American Express Platinum card

THE Platinum Amex It’s one of the best travel cards, but it’s not for everyone.

Here’s what I like and what to look at before you sign up.

Advantages:

Mass Welcome Bonus: It is often worth enough for a free international flight.

Access to the living room: Priority Pass, Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Club and much more.

Hotel & Rented Perks: Elite status in Hilton and Marriott, as well as car rental discounts.

Annual travel credits: $ 200 Airline Remuneration Credit, $ 200 Hotel Credit, Uber Credits and More.

No foreign transaction fees: Excellent for international trips.

Monthly benefits to Select Retairs: They have new benefits every month you can add to your account, including DISOCUNTS in Lululemon, Kendra Scott, Warby Parker, etc. You also get a SAKS credit twice a year.

They also cover the cost of the Global Entry/Tsa Pre-Check for each card owner. (You get pre-check with world entry.)

Disadvantages:

High annual fee: $ 695 per year, which is sharp if you do not maximize the benefits.

Not the best for daily expenses: Profit structure favors travel markets for regular expenses.

Lounge excess: Centurion lounges can be employed and recent restrictions limit visitors.

Final thoughts: If you travel frequently and you can take advantage of the privileges, Amex Platinum is an excellent card. If not, you might be better with a lower trimester travel card.

Final Tips to maximize your credit card points

Schedule flights and flights to the prize early. I think the sweet spot is 6-8 weeks earlier for domestic flights and 8-12 weeks for the international (though sometimes I can find agreements as we approach the date).

Use transport bonus to get more value than your points. This is where you can get crazy deals !!

Take advantage of your statement credits to compensate for travel costs.

Use a mixture of cash and points strategically to stretch your rewards. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy the points you need instead of just paying in cash.

If you are interested in applying for the American Express Platinum cardyou can use my own Reference link here. We had a great experience with this so far and it’s our #1-use card. (We use the southwest card for all my business expenses).
