Ok, in classic Karen fashion, I was doing makeup and hair for a job interview early yesterday morning only to realize at the last minute that it wouldn’t be on video but over the phone, LOL! Oh well.
At least it gave me an excuse to try a new eyeliner, GXVE Line It Up Gel Pencil in Sapphire Skies, a beautiful dark blue matte shade. We’ll get to that in a second.
Thank you for sending your wishes to the interview. I think I did well! If I succeed in this round – I certainly did – then I have three more rounds to go.
I don’t know if you’ve been looking for a job lately, but it’s quite a long process these days. Well, at least it is in the creative field I’m currently in (writing).
You have to do it through an online resume submission, which is shockingly difficult to do because of the sheer volume of people applying. Then an HR person does a screening interview, and if you make it, then you do two or three more interviews with members of the creative team. Sometimes it is an individual interview and sometimes it is a group interview. Then there is a writing test. If you pass the writing test, then there is usually one more interview with a VP or someone in a C-suite position.

I was thinking as I drove Connor to the dentist for a filling (baby’s first cavity) that I feel like I’m dating again, ha ha ha! In all of these calls, you have to look your best and present the best version of yourself, and then hope that 1) the person on the other end likes you enough to take it forward and 2) that you don’t accidentally offend anyone along the way. Meanwhile, you have no real idea how other people feel about you.
Anyway, I know something good is coming. I just have to be patient.
Now for the fun stuff… EYELINER. Specifically, the blue gel pencil from Gwen Stefani’s makeup line, GXVE. It has a bunch of colors and this one caught my eye because of the creaminess of the pencil and the intensity of the pigment. It’s supposed to be waterproof too.
In these photos, I had the makeup on for six hours, and the liner didn’t come off my lashes or waterline! What I like the most, though, is the color. It has depth and intensity, but it’s not harsh. It’s perfect if you want definition but prefer a softer alternative to true black eyeliner.
At full price, each pencil is normally $20 for 0.04 ounces, but on the GXVE Beauty website right now, everything is 50% off, well dagnabbit looks like i need to buy another shade or two. I think purple and gray look really nice.
One more day until Thanksgiving. We’re going to keep it quiet this year — just me, El Hub, Connor Claire and Rosie-Pose. We’ll have crab with lots of butter and salt instead of turkey, French bread, some sides we’ll pick up from a local gourmet deli, and a couple of pies. Connor and I are going to make an apple pie today (here is the recipe) Hopefully it won’t be horrible so I can get a decent photo of it.
