My Maybelline Lash Sensational Firework Mascara Review
I love Maybelline mascaras so I was pretty sure I would do well with this one.
I’m a huge fan of Maybelline Sky High – see my review here – and have been wearing the shade Burgundy Haze almost every day for the past two months. See Burgundy Haze in action at this Instagram video.
While the Sky High Mascara is mostly about lengthening the lashes, I think the Maybelline Fireworks really volumizes (and adds length too). As you’ll probably have seen in the Before and After photos above, I could easily use just one coat as it packs so much volume so quickly.
The formula is super black and really adds a lot of impact and definition to the eyes. What I love about this formula is that it doesn’t make the lashes crunchy at all, even when dry, and the lashes stay flexible for the whole day.
This means you can easily layer Maybelline Lash Sensational Firework Mascara later in the day, which in my opinion can be quite difficult with a lot of mascara. Often when I put on a lot of mascara, I can find the brush tugging and kind of catching on the lashes. While the fill with Firework is smooth and fluid.
I think it’s down to the combination of the smooth gel-based formula and the very flexible, bent brush that allows for intuitive application.
I love that it makes my lashes look really thick, long and black. I think it separates them nicely and lifts them with a good curl that lasts. You get a really beautiful full and shiny look on the lashes and there is very minimal flaking and smudging.
The pink packaging is fun, but it’s quite big and bulky, and I definitely prefer the sky style packaging, but it’s nothing special. For me, Sky High is more of an everyday mascara, where as Fireworks is one I’ll reach for when I need a little more drama.
I’m a fan of thick lashes and really enjoy the voluminous look, so I loved the two coats with the Maybelline Lash Sensational Firework Mascara. However, if you like something less bulky, then just one hand will be all you need, which not only saves product, but also time!
If you’re looking for a new mascara and love something super black and dramatic, I definitely think it’s worth a try.
It takes a bit more work to remove Sky High, but it’s nothing a gentle massage of an oil-based cleanser on the lashes can’t deal with.
