Hello! I’m in and out of the house today because I have various medical appointments. FUN — not really, LOL! I’m happy to report that I just got back from the dentist, however, cavity free. I also didn’t cry while I was there, which for me is a Christmas miracle. Anyone. Re: this post. I did this a while back and it features one of my favorite eyeshadows, NARS Kalahari. I love this duo and wear it a lot. If you get a chance to pick it up, grab it! Have a nice rest of your Thursday and see you soon.
They say if you love something, let it go, which I guess makes sense if you like butterflies or toucans, but in the case of makeup, if you love something, I say you should ALWAYS talk about it, that’s why I really like NARS Kalahari for years!
The Kalahari eyeshadow duo is perfect for lightly defining your lids. One side is a shimmery rosy bronzer and the other is a shimmery rosy bronzer — two colors, of course, that you can find in almost any line, but here’s the kicker: NARS found a way to avoid all the typically problematic side effects that cast so many glittering shadows.
For example, the Kalahari is reflective, but not frozen, so fine lines aren’t even an issue. When you wipe and swirl it on your skin, it leaves a sweet, bronzed glow. It’s very ‘J. Well, she’s doing her business in her plush suit.” Occasional, but still noticeable. (That’s a good thing in my book.)
Here’s one of my favorite ways to wear it:
Blend the two shades together with a domed shadow brush, then apply from the lash line to the crease (or just above the crease if your eyes are hooded like mine). Build it up if you want more color intensity, but don’t worry – this is eyeshadow that won’t look heavy as the powder is very fine and subtle.
Next, wet the same brush and apply more of the mixture to the movable part of your eyelid, which is the part of your eye that “blinks”. Leave it for a few minutes to dry and work on the rest of the face. Once you’re almost at the end—I usually wait until I’m almost done with everything, including blush and lipstick—take a clean blending brush and gently flick it back and forth across your crease and along the outer corners to blend.
If you want, you can also line your lashes or water lines with chocolate brown eyeliner, which I did for these photos. I also applied a cooler gray liner (Urban Decay’s Mushroom) to the lower lash line, because I like the subtle contrast of the tones.
