Tom Ford has reformulated some of his lip products Lip Color Lipstick ($62 each) + Lip pencils ($46). Looks like some items are going through a refresh as seen Basic stick it has been pulled (or not refilled) along with a few other items. I’ve picked up quite a few of the new shades and I’m 10/10 happy with everything I’ve picked up.
It’s been a while since I bought a Tom Ford lipstick again and I have to say I’m shocked at the prices these days. I don’t know that luxury makeup is “worth” the steep prices that keep rising, but I’ve been really happy with the performance, quality and colors with this formula. If you missed the Sephora sale, keep an eye out for upcoming holiday sales. Many retailers are running a good flash sale or gift card event, and with Cyber Week coming up, I’m sure you’ll be able to find them at a lower price.
Lip Color Lipstick
Tom Ford Beauty Lip Colors they’ve reformulated and with almost every brand revamping or repackaging, I guess it was only a matter of time before Tom Ford followed suit. The new formula has a bit more slip. It glides better on the lips, it’s not as opaque, it has a bit of shimmer, but it still has great color payoff. I think the new formula is a noticeable improvement for a more modern look. The original was definitely classic, but because some of the colors were so opaque (especially the pales) they ended up looking a little too heavy.
The new formula looks a little more natural on the lips while still being a true classic lipstick formula. These still have the same classic soft vanilla scent and mahogany + gold packaging (which I love). I’m a little sad they didn’t keep all the shades though.
Shades I picked up below:
- Spanish pink it’s a nude pink, it’s more wearable and a bit warmer than the original
- Sable Smoke it’s still the same flattering beige nude I remember (unfortunately I no longer have the original for comparison)
- West Coast it’s a 90s sepia cinnamon brown shade
- Slip it’s a blue based baby pink
- Runway Rose it’s a pink plum rose
- Casablanca it’s a mauve pink, the new one seems to have less of a gray undertone and I can wear the new version (the original one made me look a little shy)
- Passionate it’s quite a reddish plum, it’s almost identical to the original, I could barely tell the difference between the two variants
I ordered my sight unseen and was lucky that every color works for me! Lasting power is just like the original formula and stays for hours but fades nicely/evenly. These are a solid win for me.
Lip pencil
Tom Ford renewed them Lip pencil and the formula is extremely good. It’s everything I want in a lip liner! The formula is smooth, creamy, opaque, doesn’t feel too dry on the lips and stays on the lips very well. They are not completely waterproof, but they adhere well to the lips. I’m missing some of the shades in the older formula (the ones with the brush), but the four I picked up are amazing. The colors I bought are all variations of a neutral tone.
- 101 Close-up it’s a nude pink
- 102 See again it is light beige
- 103 Irresistible it’s brown brown
- 106 A-List it’s the perfect brown tone
Overall some solid wins although I’m not too happy about the ridiculously high prices. The quality is 10/10 and they released some really nice classic colors that you can apply without fuss or tweaks.
