When we think of sustainability in beauty, we often think of eco-friendly packaging or organic ingredients. But have you ever stopped to consider the people behind the products?
On this week’s episode of Green Beauty Conversations, host Lorraine Dallmeier—Chartered Environmentalist, Biologist, and CEO of Formula Botanica—uncovers an often-overlooked cornerstone of sustainability: ethical supply chains.
Based on last week’s inspiring conversation with Rahama Wright, its founder Shea YeleenLorraine delves into why sustainability is not only about protecting the planet but also about supporting the communities that grow, harvest and process the ingredients we love.
Tune in now to discover how ethical supply chains can revolutionize the beauty industry and learn what being sustainable really means.
“Sustainable beauty isn’t just green—it’s fair. Without ethical supply chains, the concept of sustainability collapses.” – Lorraine Dahlmeier
Basic foods:
- Sustainability requires social equity: Sustainable beauty is about more than the planet. This is about fair wages and improved living standards for ingredient producers.
- Fair wages also benefit brands: Supporting fair trade doesn’t just strengthen communities. It creates more resilient supply chains, higher quality ingredients and better long-term results for beauty businesses.
- Ethical supply chains need commitment: Building an ethical supply chain is a long-term endeavor. It involves transparency, trust and investment in global industries, but it’s very doable and incredibly rewarding.
- Your role as a conscious consumer or manufacturer: If you’re a consumer, buy from brands that prioritize ethical sourcing. If you shape your own products, choose suppliers who value fair labor practices to make a difference.
