In today’s fast-paced world, finding time to relax and prioritize self-care has become increasingly important. By elevating your bath time with homemade bath salts, that relaxation can be taken to a whole new level. Not only are DIY bath salts incredibly easy to make, but they also offer a wide variety of benefits for your mind, body and soul. DIY bath salts
Components:
Benefits of each ingredient:
- Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulfate, which is easily absorbed by the skin. Soaking in Epsom salt-infused water can help relax muscles, reduce inflammation, and relieve stress. It can also aid in detoxification by removing toxins from the body, promoting a sense of overall well-being.
- Dead Sea Salt it comes from the Dead Sea, a saltwater lake known for its high mineral content. It contains a unique blend of minerals, such as magnesium, potassium and calcium, which are beneficial for the skin. Dead Sea salt helps exfoliate dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and rejuvenated. It can also help improve circulation, reduce muscle tension and relieve certain skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
- Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is a versatile ingredient that serves multiple purposes in bath salts. It acts as a gentle cleanser, helping to remove impurities from the skin. Baking soda also has alkaline properties that help restore the skin’s pH balance, leaving it soft and supple. In addition, it can soothe skin irritations, reduce itching and promote a sense of relaxation.
- Essences not only do you add a pleasant aroma to your bath salts, but they also provide additional therapeutic benefits. Choose an essential oil based on your personal preferences and desired results. My favorite combination is lavender and cedarwood, both known for their calming and soothing properties.
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine Epsom salt, Dead Sea salt, and baking soda.
- Add 10-15 drops of your preferred essential oil to the mixture. Adjust the number of drops to your liking.
- Mix all ingredients well to ensure even distribution of the essential oil. Add some dried herbs or flowers to the mix or place them on top for aesthetics.
- Transfer the bath salts to a clean, airtight container for storage.
- To use, simply add a handful or desired amount of bath salts to warm running water as you fill your tub. Gently agitate the water to help dissolve the salts.
