The Best Post Workout Snacks

Have you ever struggled to figure out what to eat after one training? The right post-workout snacks are vital to muscle recovery, replenishing your energy and achieving results, but it can be difficult to know what the best post-workout foods really are.

Oh, what do you need?

When it comes to fueling your body after a workout, the main things you want to look for are our healthy carbs and protein. I always recommend aiming for 20 grams of carbs and 20 grams of protein so your body can make sure that hard work pays off!

These are some of my favorite healthy post-workout snacks that you can easily make at home or grab on the go after a serious sweat.

Dates stuffed with almonds

These little powerhouses are a perfect blend of natural sugars and healthy fats. The natural sweetness of dates combined with creamy almond butter creates a delicious combination that is rich in fiber, protein and essential nutrients.

I always recommend adding 1 scoop of LSF Plant Protein to water or milk on the side to get your 20 grams of protein.

Smoothies with proteins

Put together a post-workout smoothie that’s both delicious and nutritious. Try this delicious PB&J protein smoothie recipe this week and let me know what you think in the comments

Sweet potato with almond butter and coconut flakes

Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, which are essential for replenishing glycogen stores. Spread a dollop of almond butter on a half-cooked sweet potato and sprinkle on some coconut flakes for a tasty combination of healthy fats, fiber and vitamins.

Vegetable pie with hummus

Try a pita filled with your favorite veggies and 1-2 tablespoons of hummus. This snack provides a balance of carbohydrates and protein to aid in muscle recovery.

Protein-packed toast with hard-boiled eggs

Combining protein-rich eggs with whole-grain toast creates a post-workout snack that’s filling and nutritious. The combination of protein and complex carbohydrates helps replenish energy stores and supports muscle recovery.

Cocoa Nut Protein Bites

This one pattern not only makes a great post-workout snack, it’s also a delicious dessert swap! Cocoa Protein Bites have everything you need for a quick post-workout energy boost and will leave you feeling amazing.

Tuna and whole grain crackers

Tuna is rich in lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for muscle recovery and overall health. Try making it with Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise and spread it on whole grain crackers for a quick post-workout snack.

Apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon with vegetable protein LSF

Simple, crunchy and filling, this snack is a winner. The natural sugars in the apples give you a quick energy boost, while the plant-based protein powder adds an extra punch of protein, making it an ideal choice for post-workout recovery.

Remember, what you eat after a workout can greatly affect your recovery and the results you get!
