Hello friends! How are you; I hope you are having an amazing week so far. We had to drag our mattress down to sleep on the living room floor while they were working upstairs so sleeping was a bit interesting lol but other than that everything is good here.

We are doing some huge home improvements for aesthetic and health reasons. When I found out that our couch and carpet had mold, it was time for them to go. Water filtration is something you can easily do for your health – I may do a post on my favorite drinking filters! – but it’s easy to forget the water you and your family use to bathe.

For today’s post, I wanted to talk about why you might want to filter your shower and bath water and the best home shower filter I’ve found: Blurred!

Why should you filter your shower and bath water?

When we shower, the water we use is absorbed into our skin and we also breathe the vapors of that water, often indoors. You can check the quality of your local tap water here. (Tucson’s is horrible.)

Filtering your bath and shower water offers many benefits for your skin, hair and overall health, including:

Reduction of skin irritation: Chlorine and chloramines, commonly used in municipal water supplies, can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, itching and irritation. Filtering out these chemicals can reduce the risk of these problems, leaving the skin softer and more comfortable.

Reduction of mineral deposits: Hard water, which contains high levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, can leave deposits on the skin, causing it to become dry and rough. Hard water also contains various dissolved metals, including aluminum, barium, strontium, iron, zinc, and manganese. Filtering hard water can prevent these mineral deposits, resulting in smoother, more hydrated skin.

Improving hair health: Hard water can also leave mineral deposits on hair, making it look dull and lifeless. Filtering water can help maintain hair’s natural shine and vibrancy.

Eczema and Psoriasis Relief: For people with eczema or psoriasis, which can be aggravated by exposure to certain chemicals and minerals in water, filtering water can help relieve symptoms and reduce flare-ups.

Reduced risk of allergic reactions: Some people may be sensitive to chemicals such as chlorine, which can cause allergic reactions or aggravate existing skin conditions. Filtering your water can help reduce the risk of these reactions.

Improved lung health: Bath and shower water filtration removes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other harmful chemicals, reducing the risk of inhaling these substances and supporting lung health.

Long-term skin health: Consistently using filtered water for bathing can help maintain the skin’s pH balance and reduce exposure to potentially harmful substances, promoting overall skin health in the long term.

Disadvantages:

Initial cost: The Canopy shower filter it has an initial cost that may be higher than other shower filters on the market. However, advanced filtration technology and long-life filter cartridges can provide value over time.

Limited compatibility: The Canopy Shower Filter may not be compatible with all shower heads. Before purchasing it is important to make sure it will fit your existing shower head or consider purchasing a compatible shower head.

Requires regular maintenance: While filter cartridges are long-lasting, they should be replaced periodically to maintain optimal filtration. This can be an additional cost and requires attention to maintenance schedules.

My experience: (and the girls’ experience):

We all noticed an immediate difference in how our skin and hair felt. P said her hair felt softer and Liv, who is really into skincare, was 100% in tune with how her skin felt. My hair felt lighter – no more weight – and it felt cleaner longer after washing. (I usually only wash my hair 2 times a week) The water pressure was great – it has three settings- we all have very thick, long hair.

Aesthetically, it’s also very beautiful! I can’t wait to order one for our other shower.
