Something has brewed the usual-and I’m not talking about the excellent GF 15% of the brand, which has replaced my obsession with Botox or even the new multiple antioxidant radiation serum, which overcomes every vitamin C in my routine. The real news is a product that we all expect patiently, and is that the skin care routine is not complete.
Enter the new sunscreen of the ordinary: UV filters SPF 45 Serum, $ 19.
Long -term followers of The Trous will know that this is not the brand’s first effort to sunscreen. Some may remember the UV SPF 30 mineral filters with antioxidants, packaged in its silver signature tube. But the thick texture and the white cast, a characteristic of many mineral types, left very desirable. True in the format, the usual listened to customer comments and interrupted the product, returning to the design plan.
It took a few years to get right, but the usual does not do things by half – and today, the new UV filters SPF 45 Serum, $ 19It’s finally here. Fortunately, I was one of the first beauty directors to try a sample – and trust me, you will really want to wear this every day.

Is the new SPF mineral or chemical SPF of the ordinary?
Whether you are sunscreen dedicated or only remember to apply it occasionally, the question of everyone’s lips is if the new SPF is something like its predecessor. Unlike UV mineral filters, this formula is much thinner in texture. While the usual calls it “serum”, it looks more like a light lotion – easy to apply and absorb in moments, without excessive rubbing or staining required.
The lighter texture is under the type of UV filters used. The usual has abandoned its original mineral filters, choosing instead the “chemical” filters – approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Chemical filters absorb harmful UV rays and convert them to less devastating heat which is then released from the skin before causing any adverse effects, such as sunburn and ultimately sun damage.
You probably wonder why the brand decided to rotate from its original mineral filters. In a press release, the usual explained that it is “more difficult to formulate a truly transparent, lightweight and accessible sunscreen with mineral filters only”. Using chemical filters, for example, Octocrylene and Homosalate, means that the product does not leave behind the same white cast as the original. Even better, it’s a dream to apply (more to it later) and accessible to $ 19.
Is there a difference between SPF 45 and SPF 50?
The UV Filters of the usual SPF 45 are a wide range of sunscreen, which means that it protects your skin both from UVA (which can cause skin cancer and premature aging) and UVB (responsible for solar and skin cancer). Most sunscreen have SPF (sun protection factor) 30 or 50, indicating how well they protect against UVB. For example, if you burn after 10 minutes in the sun without sunscreen, the SPF 30 allows you to stay in the sun about 30 times more, assuming you have been applied enough. So why did the brand installed specifically on SPF 45?
“Unlike the popular belief, the UV filter number is not decided by the brand that shapes the protection of the sun, but rather by the formula itself,” the brand says, adding: The difference between SPF 45 and 50 is only about 1%, so most importantly you are. Most dermatologists recommend sunscreen worth two fingers for your face and neck.
Is SPF 45 of the simple?
I apply sunscreen every morning, whether I leave home or not, so it’s fair to say that I have high expectations. In addition to being a wide range (UVA can pass through the glass and I work with a large window), my sunscreen has to work, not against the combination of my skin. I want to moisturize enough for my dry cheeks, but not fat, so it doesn’t deter me my oily zone. Fortunately, that’s right.
The texture is light but moisturizing, giving my skin a juicy, cool finish similar to some Korean sunscreen I have tried – but in a fraction of the price. Even when I apply two lengths of fingers, it doesn’t feel like a chore. It absorbs quickly without feeling uncomfortable or sticky, nor does it pinch my eyes. Even better, it is non-incomedogenic, which means that it is less likely to clog pores and cause zits. Most of the skin care breaks me, but I use it for weeks without any problems.

The usual also claims to be suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. In fact I gave the mineral sunscreen I used before because it made my sensitive eyelids burn. Fortunately, UV 45 filters are soft on my reactive skin. I feel nothing.
While sun protection is the main goal, I like to make an excellent anchor for makeup. My foundation and concealer mixture perfectly over the top, and with my skin perfectly erased, I am convinced that the end result looks more flawless than before. I attribute it to the extremely light glycerin and phospholipids, which keep moisture under lock and key and maintain the skin barrier.
A dermatologist once told me that the best sunscreen is what you want to wear every day. For me, it should be UV SPF 45 filters, and since it is cheaper than others in my bathroom today, I can allocate.
