A record 10 states had abortion-related ballots in the 2024 election. While Florida was the first to register a disappointing result, failing to receive a supermajority of votes to pass the Initiative for the right to abortionseven states passed abortion rights amendmentsincluding Missouriwhere abortion was completely outlawed after his overthrow Roe v. How states voted on abortion rights amendments
Arizona vote yes Prop. 139, or Abortion Rights Initiative. The ballot measure protects the right to an abortion up to the viability of the fetus or about 24 weeks and if the life of the pregnant woman is in danger.
Colorado has voted in favour approves amendment 79or the Abortion Rights and Health Insurance Initiative. Abortion is legal in the state and the ballot recognizes the right to abortion in the constitution and allows public funding to be used to cover abortions. Nebraska has voted against Initiative 439 or the Abortion Rights Initiative. The ballot protects the right to an abortion until the fetus is viable or if the life of the pregnant woman is in danger. Initiative 434, which amends the state constitution to ban second- and third-trimester abortions (except for rape, incest, or medical emergencies), passed.
Nevada voted for question 6 or her Initiative for the right to abortion. The ballot protects the right to abortion until the fetus is viable and if the life of the pregnant woman is in danger.
