A quick little beauty post to break up contact lens content. I mean, I’m going to be an eye blogger at this point. There are two or three posts about laser eye surgery, and who knows what eye-related things I’ll find to write about after that?
Sunglasses? Eyelash growth serums? I’m sure the world is my proverbial oyster.
Anyway, here are some of the things that are almost always in my travel bag – pieces that I find useful or that save space. Most of my trips are domestic and for a night or two at a time so it almost becomes a competition against myself to see how small and light I can make my luggage. If I can fit everything in one big bag (eg a spare purse, cotton nightie and some toiletries) then I’m really happy with life. So here we go – there’s also a video further down the page, for those who want to have a voice in the background while they wash the dishes…

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Capsules
These are the biggest space savers – serums in capsules. Throw two in your makeup bag and you’ll have the skincare part of your skincare routine sorted. Arden does these in various forms. Vitamin C, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and a strengthening barrier, so there’s something for all concerns. I love these. Retinols are currently offered, quite spectacularly, here*.
Sali Hughes Daily Exfoliant
A new addition to my travel bag, this daily exfoliator is ever so gentle, but used regularly, gives a great glow and helps keep my skin clear. The large bottle is a great value. Find it online here*.
Soft silicone noise canceling earplugs
Not a beauty item, not even a mini, but I forget myself as soon as I start filming! These earplugs (orange showing weird stuff in the photos above) are very well priced compared to the alpine ones I use for sleep. They’re not noise canceling, but I like them for muting ambient sound if I’m trying to work and I’m on a train or in a hotel bar or something. I don’t like listening to music or podcasts when I’m working because I find them distracting, so they’re always available. Find them here*.
Le Labo Santal 33
Probably the most expensive travel mini known to man, but it’s my favorite perfume and I would never get a small again, buy a large (or put it on my Christmas list!) and refill from it. It’s just one of the prettiest, sexiest perfumes I’ve ever smelled – warm, woody, slightly smoky but with a light touch. Find it at Liberty here*.
Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oils
You only need to buy them in small size once: it’s more about discovering and learning which oil blends you like, then you can invest in a full size bottle and know you’ll always have a spa-level, mind-blowing bath . glorious moments on tap. I’ve been a big fan of AA oils for as long as I’ve been beauty blogging – Deep Relax and Equilibrium are my favorites – and they really do what they say on the bottle. You only need a small amount at a time so small sample bottles are perfect for holidays or short breaks. Just fill out the big one when you’re home! Find the find set (and full sizes) here*.
Sisley Phyto Teint Nude foundation is here* – I use 2N. Elf contour stick is brilliant, I use shade “medium” here*.
